Nancy Chippendale Dancers have accepted over one million dollars in dance scholarships from prestigious colleges around the country. They have then gone on to pursue various careers in the arts upon graduation from our studio and from college. From appearing on film and television to dancing on cruise ships and for professional sports teams, TEAM CHIPPS Alum are proud to say they started here.
Alison Coleman, Nancy Chippendale's Dance Studios Class of 2010, is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She danced at Nancy Chippendale's Dance Studios from the age of three until she graduated from North Andover High School in 2010. Some of her most recent dance accomplishments at the University of Michigan include performing a featured role in Professor Bill DeYoung’s piece entitles “Been A Long Time” and in MFA candidate Tracy Pearson’s thesis concert entitled Intersections at the Rabbit Hole. Alison is the 2014 class representative for the University of Michigan’s Dance Student Assembly and is also a jazz technique instructor for the University of Michigan’s U-Move Fitness Program. Alison can be seen on the cover of brochures and applications for the Dance Department at Michigan. Following graduation Alison intends to move to New York City to dance and choreograph professionally.
Alyssa Manzi Alyssa (Manzi) Ritter danced with Chippendales from 1981 – 1997. She performed in numerous regional and national competitions and was lucky enough to perform in Disney World on two separate occasions. Upon graduation, Alyssa attended UMass Amherst where she took numerous dance classes and decided to audition for a spot with the New England Patriot Cheerleaders. She cheered for the Patriots for four seasons and was named “Rookie of the Year” in 1999. As a Patriots Cheerleader, Alyssa also danced at Superbowl XXXVI, traveled to the Middle East to entertain our troops and was featured in four swimsuit calendars. But, she wasn’t done there…In 2003, Alyssa traveled down to Miami to audition for the Miami Dolphins Cheerleading Squad, who are among the best in the league. She was again named “Rookie of the Year” and was co-captain for the 2004 season. Alyssa was also part of the “Elite 8” show team in which she traveled all over the country to perform at various events and was fortunate enough to make the journey to Hong Kong to be part of the Chinese New Year Celebrations. In 2009, Alyssa and her then fiancé Gary were finalists in the NBC “Today Show Throws a Wedding” competition where they were featured on Live television competing in various challenges. Alyssa and Gary now reside in Newburyport with their son Brock.
Cassie Phillips graduated from Nancy Chippendales Dance Studios in 2011. There she was a member of the Nancy Chippendale's Dance Company and USA tap team, receiving a gold medal in the World Tap Championships. She is currently attending Roger Williams University as a Dance Performance Studies and Public Relations double major. Cassie is a member Dance Club and Dance Theatre, and has choreographed for Dance Club. In 2012, she performed with Deanna Pellecchia, Ingrid Schatz, and their cast members from Kairos Dance Theater in a basement series performance of That Girl and the Other One. Cassie also works on the New Family and Student Orientation Staff as an Orientation Advisor.
Julia Cataldo, 2010 graduate of Nancy Chippendale's Dance Studios, is studying at Harvard University with the hopes of going to Medical School. She dances with three different dance companies on campus. Each dance company has one show each semester. She is the co-director and one of the choreographers for Harvard TAPS, a student-run tap company. She is also a member of Harvard Radcliffe Modern Dance Company. This year the modern company is performing in a joint show with Harvard Ballet Company at the Loeb Mainstage. She also performs with EXP a traveling subgroup of Expressions Dance Company, one of the largest hip-hop companies in Boston. In addition to performing with three dance companies, she has been able to take Master Classes through the Harvard College Dance Program with teachers including Desmond Richardson, Dwight Rhoden, and Jill Johnson, the Director of the Harvard College Dance Program. She is so thankful to have found such a vibrant dance community at Harvard and hopes to continue growing as a dancer.
Heather Nelson is a 2005 graduate of Nancy Chippendale's Dance Studios and received her B.A. in Dance from Dean College in 2008. While dancing at Nancy’s she was part of the 2004 World Champion Tap Team. She is currently a member of the Nancy Chippendale Dance Company, performing in TAP RELOADED in Valetta, Malta and United We Tap, Boston 2011/ Heather has toured as a dancer with Rascal Flatts and was honored with a work-study semester at Broadway Dance Center upon her graduation from college. Heather is thrilled to be back home sharing her dance knowledge at her hometown studio and looks forward to spending more time with her Chippendale Dance Family.
Karen Carberry graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, where she was Director of the BC Dance Ensemble. Upon graduation she received a full year scholarship to the Edge Performing Arts Center in Hollywood, where Karen performed works by Terry Beeman, Denise Leitner, Terry Best and Leslie Scott. Karen has worked alongside such stars as Carmen Electra, Tracey Morgan, Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway to name a few. She has performed in music videos, commercials, television and movies, but her most rewarding role is that of dance teacher and choreographer at Nancy Chippendale's. Karen has been recipient of the Diamond Choreography Award at ADA, choreographer to the United States Tap Team and teacher of numerous National and International Champions. A piece of Karen's choreography was invited to perform, as one of twenty dances from around the country, at the 2010 "Dancin' Downtown at the Joyce Theater" in NYC. Karen is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 3 of the ABT National Training Curriculum. She is also a proud member of Dance Masters of America Chapter #5 and received her Master's Certification in Ballet and Jazz. Karen was a member of the 2010 World Champion Tap Team from Nancy Chippendale's and currently serves as the Director of the NEXSTEP Pre-Professional Program at Nancy Chippendale's Dance Studios.
Kelli Carberry, Nancy Chippendale's Class of 2002, is the founder of Babysteps Early Childhood Movement Center, a full-time faculty member at Nancy Chippendale's and an internationally recognized performer and choreographer. Her choreography continues to win Overall High Scores on the National level since being awarded National Young Choreographer of the Year in 2004 as well as Regional Choreographer of the Year in 2004, 2005 & 2008. Kelli's is a World Champion Tap Dancer and choreographer. She personally was ranked 2nd in the United States in both 2008 and 2010, and went on to win the Gold Medal and the title of WORLD CHAMPION in the female solo category, beating out thousands of other tap dancers around the world at the 2010 World Tap Championships. Kelli landed a featured solo role in the World Tour of "Tap Reloaded" alongside Chloe Arnold, Jason Samuels Smith and Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards. She performed in Germany, France, Malta and various cities around the world. Kelli has also performed in United We Tap and Tap United as well as at the world renowned FOX Theater in Atlanta, GA, Walt Disney World, Foxwoods, with the Boston Celtics Dancers and Boston Ballet's URBANITY Dance Project. Most recently, Kelli was cast in AOL's ad campaign, naming her one of the top "Boston Authentics" and used her story as a dedicated dance teacher and World Champion on billboards throughout Boston. Kelli has put her performing skills to work in television, music videos and film work. She was cast in multiple movies alongside Bruce Willis, Kate Hudson, Ben Affleck, Mark Walburg, Henry Winkler, Candice Bergon, Kevin James, Selma Hayek, Blake Lively, Amy Smart and Anne Hathaway. Kelli was also a choreographer for the films "Here Comes the Boom" and "Boyband" starring Michael Copon and Laura Breckinridge. She has not only worked with talented stars but also with some of the hottest directors and producers in Hollywood. Kelli graduated in 2005 from Boston University with a B.S. in Communications.
Krissy Carberry, Nancy Chippendale's Dance Studios Class of 2006, teaches full time at Nancy Chippendale’s and is also a guest teacher at Broadway Dance Center and Peridance Capezio Center in New York City. Krissy is a dancer and choreographer for the Nancy Chippendale Dance Company. She's had the opportunity to perform in "Tap Reloaded 2" in Valetta, Malta and "Tap United" in Boston, MA. She graduated with honors from New York University's Gallatin School, earning a B.A. in Individualized Study with a concentration on dance, business, and mind/body studies.
In 2012, Krissy was crowned the Gold Medalist World Champion at the IDO World Tap Dance Championships in Riesa, Germany. Alongside her sisters, she won the Silver Medal in the Trio Division. Krissy also competed in the "Battle of the Feet." This improvisation competition included dancers from twelve different countries and lasted several rounds across three days. She won 1st Runner-Up and was featured on German National News. Krissy was also part of Nancy Chippendale's Gold Medal World Champion Jazz & Tap Teams in 2010, 2006 & 2004.
While living in New York City, Krissy studied tap extensively under Lynn Schwab and "So You Think You Can Dance" choreographer, Derick K. Grant. She was a member of three professional NYC tap companies, including Xander Weinman's "Sophisticated Sounds" which performed at the Steps on Broadway Faculty Showcase, "Tap Extravaganza", and the Tap City Faculty Showcase at Symphony Space. Krissy also performed in the Steps on Broadway Faculty Showcase with Adam Metzger's "SLURP" and performed in numerous shows with Carlos Doñan's "Folktap Danza Company."
Krissy's film credits include Bride Wars, featuring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway, Surrogates, featuring Bruce Willis, and several NYU film projects. More than anything, Krissy is passionate about passing her love of dance onto her students in a fun and inspiring atmosphere.
Kristen Twining, Nancy Chippendale's Dance Studios Class of 2002, graduated from Bentley College with a Bachelor's degree in Business and currently resides in Connecticut. Kristen made it to the last round of a Radio City Rockette Audition and is now teaching all styles of dance to the competitive team at a studio right outside of NYC.
Lydia Triano is a 2007 graduate of Nancy Chippendale’s Dance Studio. Upon graduation, Lydia was selected to the Boston Cannons Cheerleading Squad and continues to train in all styles of dance.
Maya Jain graduated from Nancy Chippendale’s Dance Studios in 2014. In 2013, she got the chance to compete with her solo in Riesa, Germany as part of the USA tap team. While there, she became the adult female world champion soloist. She then went on with the Nancy Chippendale’s Dance Team to dance in NYC as part of the 2014 Fred and Adele Astaire Awards’ opening act. Maya is currently pursuing an honors degree in chemical engineering from Purdue University. She continues to study dance in the city of Chicago, and participates in a ballet course offered through the university.
Meghan McComiskey, Nancy Chippendale's Dance Studios Class of 2006, graduated from Providence College after serving as Captain of the Providence Dance Team. She was a member of the WNBA's Connecticut Sun's Solar Power Dance Team and continues to train at professional studios around New England.
Michelle Costello is a 2009 graduate of Nancy Chippendale's Dance Studios. She accepted a dance scholarship to the University of Arizona where she received her Bachelor’s degree in dance in only three years. Upon college graduation, Michelle moved to Los Angeles, CA where she is now represented by the well-known MSA Talent Agency. Michelle accepted a position with the Silverlake Contemporary Ballet Company based out of Los Angeles, CA taking her to various arenas around the world. Michelle has trained, performed and competed around the world. Some of her favorites include performing for the Miss America Organization, Walt Disney World, Urbanity Dance Project and with the U.S. Dance Team. She trained with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and studied with Ana Marie Forsthye, Pedro Ruiz, Marimba Gold Watts, Graciela Kozak, Carlos Dos Santos and Maguette Camara. During her time at Ailey, she was featured in Elizabeth Roxas’s repertory piece, assisted by Tracy Inman and originally choreographed by Judith Jamison from “Divining.” Michelle attended River North’s Dance Intensive in Chicago on full scholarship. Michelle has worked as a contemporary and jazz teacher at University Dance Project in Tucson, Arizona for young children and teens. She has also taught at her home studio Nancy Chippendale’s Dance Studios in North Andover, MA. She has been in many different productions with The University of Arizona School of Dance, with various dance styles. Michelle’s list includes jazz, ballet, tap, contemporary, modern and hip-hop. Michelle dreams of some day going on tour with recording artists and entertainers while dancing at well-known events and venues around the world. Michelle’s attachment to dance has made it clear that this is the path she will be following for her career. Dance is her motivation and her push to great success.
Nikki Girroir graduated from Nancy Chippendales Dance Studios in 2010 where she was Captain of the competition team. She was a member of the USA World Tap Team and winner of the World Cup at the World Tap Championships in Germany. Nikki performed at the Dancers for Aid benefit at the prestigious New York City’s Joyce Theatre with 6 other dancers from Nancy Chippendale’s in 2010. Nikki has performed professionally as a dancer at Canobie Lake Park. She is currently attending The University of the Arts in Philadelphia as a scholarship student and pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in modern performance. While at UArts, she has danced in various performances choreographed by students, faculty and guest artists. Upon her graduation in 2014, Nikki plans to audition for modern companies after graduation.
Nina Jain As a member of the Nancy Chippendale’s Dance Team, Nina had the opportunity to compete on both the 2004 and 2008 USA Dance Teams. Nina also performed in Disney World as part of Disney’s Magic Music Days. After graduating in 2010, she went on to attend Cornell University where she was Vice President of Impact Dance Troupe, Cornell’s premier student-run dance group. Nina continues to perform both with Impact and in works by Cornell faculty.
Sheri Taylor, a 1991 graduate of Nancy Chippendale’s Dance Studios, is currently a full-time Entertainment Show Quality Specialist at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. She has worked with the Walt Disney Company since 1996 focusing on Entertainment. She was a dancer in various parades and shows across property including the Beauty and the Beast show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where she was an Equity Dancer for 4 years. She has been an ESQ Specialist since 2000, where she is responsible for teaching and maintaining numerous shows and parades at all 4 Disney Theme Parks. Sheri is also a Clinician for Disney's Magic Music Days where she teaches guest dance groups from various studios and schools visiting Walt Disney World from all over the globe.
Tamara Doherty graduated from Nancy Chippendale's in 2012. During her time at the studio she became a World Tap Champion in 2010 as a member of team USA. She was also a soloist in Tap Reloaded 2 in Valetta, Malta on top of other performances with the Nancy Chippendale's Dance Company.
Tamara is currently pursuing a degree in Dance Management at Oklahoma City University. She is also currently a member of the well known American Spirit Dance Company.
Tanya Carpenter graduated from Nancy Chippendale's Dance Studios in 2011 and attended the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, in New York City. She was a part of the Independent Study Program, under the direction of Tracy Inman and Melanie Pearson where she learned classic “Ailey modern” along with many other dance styles. Tanya is currently an apprentice with Urbanity Dance, a Boston-based contemporary dance company and pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in dance and business. Tanya is honored to be sharing her knowledge and love for dance with the students of Nancy Chippendale's Dance Studios. She is fortunate to be offered so many wonderful opportunities and looks forward to her future as a professional dancer.
Travis Doucette Travis Doucette 2002 - graduated from Marymount Manhattan College with a Bachelor's degree in Dance. He has since danced professionally for the Silver Brown Modern Company and multiple cruise liners. He is currently the dance captain on the "Majesty of the Seas" traveling to Key West and the Bahamas and has previously danced on ships traveling to Egypt, Sweden, Russia, Denmark, Turkey, Spain, France, Greece and all over the Caribbean.
Victoria Brandano attended Nancy Chippendale Dance Studio from 1994-2008. She accredits her success in the professional world with the technique she learned as a Chipp. Currently, she is working for The Walt Disney Company as a dancer and a character performer for Walt Disney World. Victoria just signed her first equity dance contract for this Christmas season and she's excited to see what her future holds in the performance world and Disney World alike.
Yasmin Mateo graduated from Nancy Chippendale’s Dance Studios in 2011. There she earned various credentials including a gold medal as a member of the USA Tap Team, winning Miss Teen Headliner, and earning the Triple Threat Scholarship at NYCDA. She went on to attend Umass Amherst where she made the Dance team her freshman year. Now a senior on the team, Yasmin has had the opportunity to perform in front of numerous sold out crowds of over 9,000 fans at both football and basketball games. In addition to performing at all home games, including at Gillette Stadium, the dance team travels to Daytona Beach, Florida for the National Dance Alliance Collegiate Championship. Competing in the highest category Division IA this past April they made it to finals finishing eighth in the nation. Yasmin hopes to continue her dancing after graduation as she auditions for various sports’ dance teams.
